Life does not wait. And neither should our students.
My heart for service began with my mother. She gave her time freely to family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers who needed support. I watched her show up again and again for people in their hardest moments. From her, I learned something that has stayed with me my entire life: service cannot wait.
As I began exploring a run for Elgin ISD School Board, I have thoughtfully considered whether this was the right time to step forward. But the more time I have spent with our families, teachers, and students here in Elgin ISD, the clearer it has become that our community needs leaders who are ready to step forward now.
Over the past two years as President of the Harvest Ridge Elementary PTA, Chair of the CTE Advisory Board, and through my work with the Elgin Education Foundation, I have had the privilege of listening, learning, and serving across this district. I have seen the incredible strengths of our schools and the real opportunities in front of us.
As our community continues to grow, I also believe deeply in protecting the small-town spirit that makes Elgin special. We can welcome new families and new opportunities while still honoring the relationships, traditions, and sense of community that brought so many of us here in the first place.
That is why I am running for Elgin ISD Board of Trustees, District 2. Because our students, our educators, and our families cannot wait.

La vida no espera. Y nuestros estudiantes tampoco deberían hacerlo.
Mi corazón por el servicio comenzó con mi madre. Dedicó su tiempo libremente a familiares, amigos, vecinos e incluso extraños que necesitaban apoyo. La vi aparecer una y otra vez para las personas en sus momentos más difíciles. De ella aprendí algo que ha permanecido conmigo toda mi vida: el servicio no puede esperar.
Cuando comencé a explorar la posibilidad de postularme para la Junta Escolar Elgin ISD, consideré cuidadosamente si este era el momento adecuado para dar un paso adelante. Pero cuanto más tiempo he pasado con nuestras familias, maestros y estudiantes aquí en Elgin ISD, más claro se ha vuelto que nuestra comunidad necesita líderes que estén listos para dar un paso adelante ahora.
Durante los últimos dos años como presidente de la PTA de la escuela primaria Harvest Ridge, presidente del consejo asesor de CTE y a través de mi trabajo con la Fundación Educativa Elgin, he tenido el privilegio de escuchar, aprender y servir en todo este distrito. He visto las increíbles fortalezas de nuestras escuelas y las oportunidades reales que tenemos por delante.
A medida que nuestra comunidad continúa creciendo, también creo profundamente en proteger el espíritu de pueblo pequeño que hace que Elgin sea especial. Podemos dar la bienvenida a nuevas familias y nuevas oportunidades sin dejar de honrar las relaciones, las tradiciones y el sentido de comunidad que trajeron a tantos de nosotros aquí en primer lugar.
Es por eso que me postulo para la Junta Directiva de Elgin ISD, Distrito 2. Porque nuestros estudiantes, nuestros educadores y nuestras familias no pueden esperar.
